LEARN-TO-ROW

What you need to know!

The objective of the program is to introduce young student athletes to the sport of rowing.

​

Next Learn to Row: TBD. 6:00 a.m.- 8:30 a.m., Algonkian Regional Park

 

Schedule: program will consist of 5 weekdays (mon-fri) 6am-8:30am 

 

Program description: start out learning the rowing technique on land using the ergometers, then progress into the rowing shells. Crew team members from various high schools in Loudoun will support the learn to row participants both on the land and in the water.

 

Participation: program is open to current high school students and rising 8th graders in Loudoun County. Students must have basic swimming skills as a prerequisite to participate in on-water activities. All forms and payment must be submitted prior to the first day of learn-to -row. SPACE IS LIMITED AND WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

 

Returning spring learn-to-row athletes: if your athlete plans to do the fall season the coaches suggest they participate in learn-to-row as a refresher. In the past, this has helped many athletes become more proficient in rowing when the actual season starts. If your athlete chooses to participate in the fall season, a portion of the Learn To Row dues will be applied to fall season dues. SPACE IS LIMITED AND WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

 

Rowing location: Algonkian Regional Park, 47001 Fairway Dr., Sterling, VA 20165

 

**Requirements and Cost: Parents must attest to student's swimming ability and sign off on waiver and release of liability forms for Miles Make Champions Rowing Club.

Cost is $65.00 - This covers expenses associated with running the clinic. Checks to be made payable to MMC.

 **NOTE: if forms or payment are incomplete by start date of week, your athlete will not be permitted to participate.
