Select | Competitive Program
Requirements:
Athletes trying out for MMC Select Competitive Program are expected to be fully invested in the program. 2+ years of rowing/coxing experience is recommended but not required. The Select Program is designed for the top athletes of the region's scholastic programs committed to improving technique, speed and developing a competitive edge.

Attendance is required at all practices unless an absence is excused (illness, family emergency, etc.). If an athlete's fails to meet attendance expectations they will be subject to removal from the program. All athletes are expected to be available on Sundays for the purposes of racing, and a portion of Saturdays to load the trailer prior to travel. A minimum of four weeks notice will be provided prior to a race being scheduled. It is expected 3-4 races will be scheduled throughout the Fall season.

Tryouts:
Tryouts for self-identified competitive rowers will take place Monday, August 23 through Thursday August 26 between 4:45-7:00pm. The first day, Monday August 23, will take place at Broad Run High School where all participants will complete a 4,000m Erg Test. The highest scores will be invited to continue the tryout process on the water, Tuesday through Thursday at Algonkian Regional Park.

Coxswains are expected to attend all practices and must submit a letter of recommendation from a coach they have previously worked with for the program's review.

All are welcome to tryout but only select athletes will be retained by the program.

Selection:
Each athlete who participates in tryouts will receive an email Friday, August 27 notifying them if they made the team. Those who do not make the Select Competitive Team will be provided feedback and will be able to participate in the Club Program.

Runs: Monday August 23 -Monday, November 1
Practice: Monday-Thursday 4:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Three regattas: Occoquan Chase - October 17, 2021
Head of the Occoquan - November 7, 2021
